Long 4 weeks
Well it has been awhile since I have been able to write anything on here. It has been a lot of traveling and racing for me the past 4 weeks. After Brutus Hamilton I traveled back to my hometown (Pittsburgh) for the UPMC Health Plan Half Marathon. I had a great time out there being able to see friends, coaches, and family out on the course cheering me. Coming away with the win in your hometown was just a great experience. After that I traveled out to State College, PA for a couple days to spend some time with my coach out there and get some good training in. Artie was able to show me some other things that we are adding into my training that I am excited about. Leaving State College I headed back home to Kalamazoo the night before the Fifth Third River bank run where I was planning to run the 5k. Saturday morning my wife and I traveled up to Grand Rapids for the races. I ended up getting third in the 5k in 14:37, I made some tactical racing mistakes and ended up losing to two Kenyan runners. Here is an audio interview on runmichigan.com recapping the race, it number 11 down the list. Then this past weekend I traveled with the Western Michigan woman’s track and field team out to Buffalo, NY for the Mid-American Conference Championships. The team ended up getting third in the meet and had some great individual performances. It has been nice to have some time down from racing and get back to some quality training sessions these past 2 weeks. Next up for me is a 5k on the track at the 401 Distance Series in Windsor, Ontario on May 29th.
