It seems like every time Blake Hammer races, he drops 20s on his 5k. As the only freshman in Pittsburgh Central Catholic’s top seven, Blake continues to be a strong part of their lineup. His 59th place in 19:22 helped his team finish 9th in the in 25-team field.
Ben Bloser Bulldog Cross Invite
Brandi Carmack started off the Ben Bloser with a bang! She finished 6th in the 253-person field to lead Bellefonte MS.

Carter Kauffman and Josh Hersbine finish 1-2, respectively, at the Ben Bloser Invite.

Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy’s Carter Kauffman moved up one spot from the year before to earn the Class A victory as he dropped over 20s from 2017. His teammate, Josh Hershbine, slipped into Carter’s 2017 runner-up spot with a time of 17:22. Last season Josh was 14th in the MS race. Their teammate, Leland Calistri, continued his strong start by dropping over 2 mins from 2017 to finish 59th.
Austin Melius kept up his medal winning ways with a 21st place finish in the Class AA race with a time of 17:56. The sophomore continues to be a low stick for Bellefonte.
The Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Girls raced in the Class AAA division and earned 4th place for their efforts. The 1-2 punch of Julia Cusatis (7th) and Sera Mazza (8th) continues to produce top-10 finishes for the Wolves. Kate Youngmark dropped 20s from her 5k debut to finish 34th and was followed to the line by Lindsey Carmack (66th) and Myah Chappell (87th).
Altoona Mt. Lion Invite

Morgan Hess with a strong drive to the finish line!

Morgan Hess continues to be the #1 girl for Juniata Valley as her medal winning performance (26th) at the Altoona Mountain Lion Invite helped the Hornets earn 15th place. Hailey Prestash finished 49th for to lead the way for West Branch.

State College MS team getting ready for the Altoona Mountain Lion Invite.

Henry Adams (2nd), Neil Maguire (7th), Ian Savitski (13th) helped State College MS win the team title on the quick layout around Altoona’s elementary school.
Marlee Kwasnica ran her record to 2-0 as outdistanced herself from the field with sub 9:30 clocking on the 1.5 mile course. She teamed with Grace Morningstar (31st) to help the girls team finish 3rd.
 
Commodore Perry Invite
Krush Camper of the Week Maddison Hayes’ 5th place finish started the scoring for the Fairview Tigers as they hoisted the trophy at the Commodore Perry Invite. The Tigers are currently ranked 10th in the state and #2 in Class AA!
Juniata Valley Striders All Comers #1
Ella McCrum was at it again as she torched the course for the overall win in 11:22! She continues to dominate wire-to-wire in her races.
Soccer
Sarah Watkins is helping to make history as Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy starts its soccer program. Sarah’s fitness and leadership has been a strong asset in helping the Wolves improve each day.
Up next for most campers is the PIAA Foundation Invitational where we will see PA #5 State College Girls take on #1 North Allegheny, #2 Central Bucks West, and #3 Fox Chapel  in the Class 3A (Gold) Race. Colton Sands v. Carter Kauffman Round #2  in the Class A (White) Race,  Kelsey Hull, Hailey Prestash, and SJCA Wolves tangle in the Class A (White) Race, and Austin Melius get important experience for November in the Class AA (Blue) Race. The Young Guns will head back to Oak Hall for CRPR-NVRC All-Comers #2!
